Annie Rodriguez is a dancer, Pilates teacher, and fitness trainer in Brooklyn, NYC. She is the creator of the BarreBod program at Chalk Gyms, where she also teaches popular group classes in BodyRhythm, an African dance-based workout for both body and soul, and Mama Fitness, a pre/post natal workout based in Pilates and barre. Annie believes that mindful movement is the key to a healthier, happier life, and she combines her training in ballet and West African dance with top-level classical Pilates training and fitness savvy to create movement practices that sustain her clients' inner vitality as well as their outward goals. Hailing originally from the Blueridge Mountains of Virginia, Annie danced her way through college at CU Boulder and moved to NYC in 2008 to earn her Master's in dance and Africana Studies at NYU. After splitting her time for several years between Guinea, West Africa and dancing and teaching here in the city, Annie trained at Romana's Pilates/True Pilates New York to earn her Pilates certification in 2014. She is an ACE-certified Group Fitness Instructor, Pre & Post Natal Specialist, and a Fitness Nutrition Specialist. When she's not moving, Annie loves traveling, music, and eating spicy things.
